COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM)- A Marion County teen accused of killing
his younger brother goes to trial Monday in Jackson County. A change of
venue was granted after the defense claimed that community outrage and
media attention wouldn't allow for a fair trial in Marion County.
Zach Stringer was 15-years-old when he was arrested in June 2011, and charged
with the murder of his 11-year-old brother in the Enon Community just East of
Columbia.
The child was found shot to death in the
family home on East Baylis Chapel Rd. which authorities ruled a homicide.
Stringer had been held in the Marion-Wathall Correctional Facility on a million
dollar bond for over a year.
Twice, his request for a bond reduction
had been denied, but a third bond hearing was held in Marion County on Oct. 16,
where a $25,000 bond was granted under strict supervision, despite community
concern and petition. Jury selection in Pascagoula begins around 8 a.m.,
Monday.'
