Relay for Life kicks off Saturday | News

A national life changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people battling cancer kicks off Saturday.

The American Cancer Society's signature activity, Relay for Life will hit Hattiesburg and Marion County Saturday. Anyone can join the overnight relay.

The Marion County Relay for Life will start at 9 a.m. at Friendship Park. The Hub City's Relay for Life will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Tatum Park, and will go until 3 a.m. It's a little bit of effort with a small cost that will go a long way in helping continue cancer research.

Seven on your Side spoke with a few cancer survivors and caregivers who said why they believe relay for life is an event to mark on your calendar.

Breast Cancer Survivor, Wanda Walker, said "it's an event that gets everyone together to support cancer survivors and caregivers."
