Dr. Elliot Nipper Discusses Advances in Hip Replacement Technology as Part of Ongoing Educational Se

Dr. Elliot Nipper, and Orthopedic Surgeon with Southern Bone and Joint, will lead a discussion on the advancements in hip technology at the Senior Circle Lunch and Learn program on July 19 at 11 a.m. in the Glenn Smith Room at Wesley Medical Center.

The seminar is part of an ongoing monthly series, featuring local physicians discussing a variety of health and wellness topics. Dr. Nipper is a fellowship-trained arthritic joint replacement orthopedic surgeon. He will speak about issues regarding hip surgery and answer common questions on the subject.

Fidel Sendra, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Wesley Medical Center. Dr. Sednra received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed residencies at Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT, University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL, and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Wesley Relay for Life Event Raises Over $16,000

In memory of Dr. Glenn Smith and in honor of all those battling cancer, Wesley Medical Center hosted “Light the Track,” a relay event held May 10, to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

“This is the second annual Light the Track event honoring Dr. Glenn Smith,” said Katherine Pittman, Director of Customer Service for Wesley Medical Center. “Last year we raised over $10,000 and we were thrilled top that this year.”

Wesley Medical Center Names Lee Byrd Director of Laboratory Services

Wesley Medical Center recently named Lee Byrd Director of Laboratory Services. Byrd has been employed with Wesley Medical Center since 2008 and has served as Interim Laboratory Director since Nov. 26, 2012.

Byrd brings 23 years of clinical experience to the position, including previous experience as a lab director. He is certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)CM and a Technologist in Hematology by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and has also been certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by the National Crediting Agency.
